Making a Dream a Reality - Our Rebranding Story

Twenty-one years ago was where the dream of owning his own woodworking business began. At seven-years-old, Peter was with his father in the workshop, screwing bases on pedestals and also making cuppas for everybody.

Over the past few years, we have been looking into how to improve our look for you. From 'Doofa Furniture' and now to 'P R Woodward Cabinet Makers', we welcome you to our fresh-faced look.

The Paw:

Originating from his beloved childhood dog, Peter named his business after one of his most beloved family members (Duffa-Knackle, the yellow Labrador).

Originally named 'Duffa Furniture', Peter was continually receiving phonecalls, where he was correcting the mispronunciation of 'Duffa'. This led to the renaming of the company to 'Doofa Furniture'. As the years went by, the meaning of 'Doofa' changed, no longer giving the core values of the business its true identity.

Finally, Peter decided it was time to bring about an updated image to his business, which is where the 'Mallet and Chisel' come in.

The Mallet & Chisel:

Originally his late father’s logo for his own business 'N. M. Woodward', he decided that it was time to bring about the family community further by combining the logos.

In order to show the love and value that Peter has for his business and for each product and project designed and created, we added the paw flying off like a shaving as the Chisel carving the Paw.

Family is at the heart of this business and Peter's father was the one who introduced him to the craftsmanship, which Peter developed and made his dream a reality by starting out at a local cabinet-makers near ‘sutton under whitestonecliffe’ for six years (before coming a Master Craftsman of the trade). It was here, that he gained support and guidance from esteemed colleagues to support him in his ability. This then progressed into his own business creating products for local stalls, church donations ect.

Leading us on to the present day, where Peter (over the years) has developed a range of products from trinkets to commissioned projects.

Thank you for reading a large part of our History.

We look forward to hearing from you. Hopefully in the near future, we will be able to attend a few shows to meet you in person.
